Grandpa's funeral

Dad passed away February 15, 2012.  The funeral was February 18, 2012 at the Ashton Stake Center.
We were so glad Saul and Alaina could come with the other family members.
It was such a double blessing for us to be able to come to Dad's funeral and to see those of you that could come.  It was a celebration of Dad's good life and a great family reunion.  We made it, thanks to Matt and Becky's generousity for our tickets and Jake and Tracy picking us up at the airport.  We got to Ashton about five hours before the viewing.  As you know, because of a  flight delay in LA and the new flight the airline representative was miraculously able to get us on, we arrived without luggage.  Thanks to Aunt Gwen and her sister Dawn, I was dressed warmer than I would have been in my own clothes.  I really liked the warm boots I borrowed from Dawn.  I've decided I would like a pair for Utah winters.Tim and Uncle Dean helped Louis so he was also presentable.

Because Dad was a veteran, the American Legion gave a six gun salute and played taps at the funeral.  They presented an American flag  to the family. It was done so respectfully and reverently it was very special and memorable.

At the luncheon at the church, the Relief Society had prepared a very nice beef dinner.  The little cousins had fun playing and running around.  The big cousins, aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters, and old friends enjoyed being together and visiting.  We took pictures of  some of the family groups.  Some left before we got their pictures.

It was so good to be all together.  We enjoyed sharing memories of mom and dad and just visiting.

Saying goodbye to Jake and Tracy

It was special to be able to spend time at Mom & Dad's house together after Dad's funeral.  We had fun together.  Mom and Dad's (Grandma and Grandpa's) house was always a great place to visit.  Mother always made our favorite foods and both she and Dad enjoyed playing games with us.  The house has many happy memories of family get-to-gethers, dinners, and reunions. I will miss the house when it is sold as I know all of you will.  However, without mom and dad, it is not the same.  They were the heart of that red house on Maple Street.  We will always have our memories.
